Tired of Readers?

Over 40, need reading glasses and don’t qualify for cataract surgery? RLE might be for you!

What is Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)?

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is very similar to cataract surgery without being diagnosed with cataracts. In fact, you will not need cataract surgery in the future.

RLE involves removing the natural eye lens and replacing it with an intraocular lens (IOL) that is designed specifically to help you achieve the clear vision you want. After a comprehensive evaluation, the expert doctors at Chico Eye Center can recommend the right type of IOL to meet your vision goals – like ditching your readers!

Am I a Candidate for RLE?

You are a potential candidate for RLE if:

  • You’re severely farsighted – meaning it’s hard to see things up close.
  • You’re in your 40s or 50s and noticing presbyopia – the age-related change that makes reading or near work difficult, even if you never had vision problems before.
  • You’re not a good candidate for laser vision surgery maybe your corneas are too thin, your prescription is too high, or you have other factors that make LASIK/PRK unsafe.

Discover RLE at Chico Eye Center

There is no need to carry around reading glasses* when Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is available. With RLE you can read your text messages without squinting, choose what you want from a menu without passing it across the table, and focus on living your life – not managing your eyewear.
