At Chico Eye Center, we strive to be pioneers in eye care, e.g., we are proudly the first practice in Northern California to offer the revolutionary Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) to cataract patients. We are also one of the first 50 offices in the United States to adopt the FDA-approved corneal cross-linking technology, and to this day, we’re the only provider in the region offering that device.
Because we partner with Sightpath, your LASIK/PRK procedure will always be performed with the latest state-of-the-art laser platforms. That means when you choose us, you’re accessing technology that many practices simply don’t have.
Even regarding eye care basics, Chico Eye Center believes in utilizing advanced diagnostics. Your eye health is determined by more than reading letters on a chart. That’s why our eye care diagnostics go beyond the routine diagnostics every clinic has. At Chico Eye Center, we examine color contrast, glare sensitivity, your ability to adjust to light, and the three elements of your tear film, which help maintain optimal ocular surface health.
As an externship site for the Michigan College of Optometry, we welcome fourth-year students who come to Chico Eye Center to learn from our physicians. These students gain real-world experience in both ophthalmology and optometry, seeing firsthand how teamwork and compassion go hand-in-hand with delivering excellent patient care.
Through our partnership with Healthy Rural California’s Healthcare Professions Pathways Program, we open our doors to medical students and college students who are exploring careers in healthcare. By shadowing our doctors, they get an authentic look at what it’s like to practice ophthalmology in a community-based setting. For many, it’s the moment they realize their passion for medicine.

We also believe in planting the seeds early. Our team visits medical education clubs at rural schools and career education programs for middle and high schools across the North State, sharing our stories and showing students that a future in healthcare is possible—whether that’s becoming an optometrist, a physician, or another vital role in medicine.
