Chico Eye Center has the most experienced Light Adjustable Lens® (LAL) cataract surgeons in Northern California. LAL is the first and only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved intraocular lens implant that allows customization to a patient’s vision after cataract surgery.
LAL is made of a special photosensitive material that can be adjusted in response to ultraviolet (UV) light. After your eye has healed from cataract surgery, your cataract surgeon can optimize your vision results using a series of 2-4 non-invasive light treatments over the course of 1-2 months. When you have reached your vision goals, a final light treatment is used to lock in the results.
Other IOLs have a fixed focal length, meaning you choose your future vision before surgery. With LAL, you don’t have to settle for prefixed vision – you can take your vision back from cataracts and see how you want to see the world.
If you are considering cataract surgery, ask your Chico Eye Care eye doctor about LAL!
