Comprehensive Eye Care
At Chico Eye Center, we provide comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. Our board certified doctors are fully trained and experienced to diagnose, treat, and prevent conditions from myopia and hyperopia to glaucoma, cataracts, and everything in between. We are also proud to have the only corneal specialist in Butte county to help take care of all your corneal needs. We strive to provide our patients with safe, minimally invasive treatments to effectively relieve symptoms and preserve vision and overall eye health. As a comprehensive ophthalmology practice, our services include not only laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK) and small-incision cataract surgery, but also treatments for a range of conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, corneal diseases, dry eye, and macular degeneration. We also provide a large selection of cosmetic facial and eyelid services.
Regular Eye Exams
Regular eye exams are an invaluable tool in maintaining your eyes’ health by detecting and preventing disease. Some diseases develop slowly without causing pain or vision loss. Early detection of any problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options. We regularly screen for diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, which can develop without any noticeable symptoms. Patients should see their doctor for a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years, depending on their age, risk of disease, family history, and overall physical condition. Children should have regular tests to ensure the proper development of their vision and prevent any interference with their academic achievements. Older adults are often at a higher risk for eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Even if your eyes are healthy, you should still have a regular eye exam to detect any problems as soon as possible and begin necessary treatment.
Common Eye Conditions
Within our comprehensive practice, we treat vision conditions such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism through visual aids and surgical procedures if desired, as well as conditions affecting the cornea, iris, lens, vitreous, retina, eyelid and surrounding areas. Some of the most common eye conditions include:
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Macular Degeneration
- Dry Eyes
- Eyelid Conditions
- Corneal Disease
Certain advanced eye conditions may require surgery in order to restore or maintain vision and prevent serious complications. Surgery for cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disease and other serious conditions are an effective means of correcting these diseases and returning the eyes to a more optimal state of health. Our doctors perform surgery only when needed to reduce the invasiveness of treatment and any associated trauma or downtime, and after less invasive treatment such as medications, eye drops and laser procedures have failed. We also perform laser vision correction procedures to improve vision and eliminate or reduce the dependence on contact lenses and glasses.
We also provide a wide range of non-surgical and surgical cosmetic services for the eyelids and face. Cosmetic surgery can help “turn back time” by reducing the appearnace of wrinkles, lines, sun damage, and sagging skin that can make you look angry, sad, or tired. All our cosmetic services are provided by Chico Eye Center physicians and are never passed on to staff members. We have many years of experience in performing non-surgical procedures, such as Botox, Juvederm, and Pelleve. We can also resolve eyelid problems with a variety of minimally invasive surgical options. For those who wish to enhance their appearance, today’s cosmetic procedures offer the opportunity to sculpt physical features and improve self-esteem.
